Milan Jovanovic ponders offer to make Anfield switch

Liverpool have offered Milan Jovanovic a deal to join them in the summer, but the Standard Liège forward wants assurances that Rafael Benítez will be the manager next season before committing to the proposed Bosman free transfer.

Jovanovic, a Serbia player, is also attracting interest from Birmingham City and Milan, but Liverpool have made their move, offering the 28-year-old a three-year contract with an option of another 12 months.

Decent bets

Galatasaray are on the verge of an agreement to sign Giovani dos Santos on loan from Tottenham Hotspur with a view to a permanent deal in the summer. The Mexico forward has made only one league appearance, as a substitute, for Harry Redknapp since he took charge as manager in October 2008.

Roma have confirmed that Manchester City have inquired about Marco Motta, their defender who has hardly figured since his summer move from Udinese, who retain half his ownership.

Birmingham City have held talks about signing Aruna Dindane, who is on loan at Portsmouth, from Lens this summer, when he has one year left on his deal.

Everton and Tottenham have entered the race to sign Klaas-Jan Huntelaar on loan from Milan. The forward is available six months after joining from Real Madrid.

Serbs surprise Russia

Serbia beat Russia 4-3 while Spain thrashed Portugal 6-1 on the final day of the group stages of the UEFA European Futsal Championships on Saturday.

Serbia came back from 2-0 down to pip Russia at the end, the second spectacular second half turnaround of the tournament following the Czech Republic's dramatic clawback of a four-goal deficit against competition hosts Hungary on Saturday.

The Serbs struggled to contain the Russians in the first-half and trailed 2-0 early in the second half. A four goal brace within six minutes, however, blasted the Russians out of the game and off the top spot in Group C.

Serbia's reward for topping the group is to stay in their Budapest venue for their semifinal with Portugal on Tuesday, while Russia must travel to Debrecen to take on tournament favorites Spain also on Tuesday.

Spain's rout of Iberian rivals Portugal followed their 9-1 blitz of Belarus earlier in the tournament, positioning the Spanish as tournament favorites.

The other quarterfinals involve surprise package Azerbaijan versus Ukraine in Budapest and Italy versus the Czech Republic in Debrecen. Both games take place on Monday.

Zoran Tosic Set To Move to Koeln

Manchester United young winger Zoran Tosic is set to move on a loan to German club Koeln, according to Serbian newspaper Jurnal Sportski.

According to the report, the Serbian is scheduled to sign with the club until the conclusion of the season.

Tosic, who signed for Sir Alex Ferguson from Partizan, has been finding it difficult to secure a first team place at Old Trafford, and with the World Cup coming up in South Africa this summer, the 22-year-old would welcome a move to get some first team football.

The Bundesliga side have been starved of attacking flair this season, scoring only 12 league goals, and could use the diminutive international to unpick defences.

It is said that an agreement has been made between the Red Devils and their German counterparts, and a loan should be finalised sometime next week, although Tosic has not confirmed the move personally.

Reports are Also claiming that Sporting Lisbon, Olympiacos and Twente are looking to secure the signature of the talented winger.

Liverpool Fighting AC Milan For Jovanovic

The Rossoneri and the Reds are fighting it out for Standard's Serb.

Liverpool have locked horns with AC Milan to secure the services of Standard Liege's Milan Jovanovic, according to The Sun.

The sought-after Serb had previously revealed the Reds' interest in luring him to England, while also explaining that he had been courted by the San Siro outfit.

Liege appear to be willing to dispose of their player before his contract runs out in the summer, and Merseyside is said to be smelling of a £2.5 million signing-on fee.

A source from Standard allegedly said: "It looks like it's 50-50 between Liverpool and AC Milan for Jovanovic.

"There are many other clubs but those two are ahead of the rest.

"It seems he will make a decision very soon."

There have also been reports claiming that the 28-year-old may have signed a pre-conractual agreement with Liverpool.

Vidic to make derby day return

Rio Ferdinand & Nemanja Vidic to return for Manchester United against Manchester City.

Defenders to make derby day return...

According to The Daily Star, Manchester United are set to receive a huge boost before their clash against Manchester City in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final, as defenders Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are reportedly fit enough to make an appearance on Mancunian derby day (part one).

Ferdinand has not made an appearance for the Red Devils in the past three months owing to a persistent back injury, while Vidic pulled up with a problem prior to his team being sensationally sent out of the FA Cup by Leeds United.

Because of the injury-ravaged nature of Sir Alex Ferguson's defence, midfielders Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick had previously been manning the centre of the back-line in the absence of those defenders who were out licking their wounds.

Presently, it is believed that the Scot will field both first-choice centre-halves on derby day in the hope of halting Roberto Mancini's men, following a 4-3 victory over United's cross-town rivals earlier in the season.

Liverpool, Chelsea show interest for Zigic

Agent reveals Liverpool, Chelsea interest for Valencia striker Zigic

The agent of Valencia striker Nikola Zigic has revealed the interest of Chelsea and Liverpool in the Serb.

Zigic wants to leave the Mestalla this month, despite his impressive recent form.

Milan Calas told Futbol Mercado: "Nikola currently has more playing time and when he plays, he impresses. But he's not content with limited playing time.

"So if a big club comes, we will consider their offer. Liverpool, Chelsea, several Germans and one Italian club are following him.

"I also have clubs in Turkey calling me, but Nikola really wants to play at a higher level."

Krasic Favours Italy & Spain

CSKA Moscow Star Milos Krasic Favours Italy & Spain Over England

The midfielder has not spurned Manchester City, but his future might lie in Serie A or La Liga.

The representative of CSKA Moscow winger Milos Krasic has dismissed press reports that his client has rejected a bid from Premier League side Manchester City.

“It’s not true, but I can confirm that Milos would prefer moving to either Italy or Spain,” agent Dejan Joksimovic told Calciomercato.it.

“Then again, it’s clear that if an important offer came in from a big club such as City, we certainly couldn't say no like that.

“We have not received any offers, although [Manchester City boss Roberto] Mancini holds the player in high esteem, as he followed him during his time at Inter.”

Krasic has also been linked with a move to Milan, but Joksimovic has ruled out a January exit from CSKA and admitted that Inter might join the race next summer.

“The President of CSKA has decided that the lad won’t leave in January,” explained the agent.

“Milos won’t be going anywhere until June. And I guess that Inter and Milan are the only sides in Italy who could compete with other top European sides for his signature next summer.”

Ajax Without Pantelic

Ajax To Face NAC Without Marko Pantelic

The Serbian attacker will miss this weekend's game due to injury.

Eredvisie giants Ajax have received some bad news on the injury front in the build-up to Sunday's league clash against NAC Breda.

Serbian forward Marko Pantelic has been ruled out of the match due to injury. The former Hertha Berlin star sustained a hamstring injury during Ajax's training camp in Portugal and has not yet returned to full match fitness.

"We always play differently with Marko than without him. His absence means that Luis Suarez will start the match as striker. Our final pass needs to be better without Luis on the wing to provide," head coach Martin Jol told a press conference.

Pantelic joined Ajax from Hertha on a free transfer last summer and has quickly become an integral part of the first team for the Amsterdam side. The 31-year-old has scored six goals in 11 league appearances so far.
